You may be asked to provide a cover letter, tax information, a literature review or paperwork. The most important part is following the funding agencies specifications exactly. Normally when applying for a grant the funder will have a document or webpage listing specifications.

The most logical aspects of a grant, in my opinion, include the table of contents, the budget and the evaluation/conclusion. All the rest leave a bit more room for rhetorical appeals to be utilized. A grant is a sort of in depth marketing venture, a well thought out and presented argument to a funder. Not only should a grant provide as much information as possible, it should also follow the guidelines set and be innovative and interesting to read.
